There is no place like Cuba

Cuba is a land that is definitely against the grain. Though it is the world’s 105th largest country, you might not think of it like that from first glance. It is a world that is different from most that you have probably ever visited, and one that is marked by uniqueness, culture, and peculiarity, from beginning to end. Since Raul Castro took power, Cuba has opened up to a whole new level of tourism-friendliness, especially with the introduction of cell phones and  the introduction of Cubanos to tourist hotels.

The natural beauty of Cuba is something that is breathtaking, to say the least. Look up any photo gallery on the Internet and you will see what I mean… and that isn’t even remotely close to what it is like in person! It’s breathtaking sunrises, it’s dense fog-covered forests, it’s majestic plant life, it’s rugged hillsides, and finally, it’s romantic sunsets all serve to make Cuba one of the most amazing places on earth to visit.

There is also a lot of culture to explore in Cuba. The country has a lot of historic sites that are specifically designated as such, and as a traveler, you are free to explore them. Also, it is fair to remember that just visiting with the local populace is a trip in Cuba. Never in  your whole life will you have the opportunity to spend time with such colorful characters as in Cuba.

The people here are friendly, candid, and against the grain, to say the least. Speaking a little bit of Spanish will help you communicate, though it is not necessarily a necessity.  Just remember that, if you do know a little Spanish, you will be able to trudge deeper into the social wilderness of Cuba, which is an experience all in itself for first-time visitors.
