Cuba is a place unlike many other places. You will realize right away that this is not a place that is exactly like home. But it IS home to many interesting and exciting people, and getting a glimpse into the life of the average Cubano is part of what makes a stay in Cuba so memorable. It is a different kind of place, that, in many ways, has seen a much more different growth than the rest of the world, and that makes Cuba unique in many wonderful and interesting ways.

First of all, opinions in Cuba are very divided on the effect of Castro, and also on points like the U.S. blockade and the fall of the Soviet Union. The citizens do, however, had education, health care, and food - but not necessarily the freedom to say whatever they want! But the Cuba that you will see today is very different from the Cuba of the 90s. Since opening up to global tourism, Cuba has undergone a dramatic change.

Many destinations that were off-limits to the rest of the world are now accessible for the first time in a long time, which makes this destination all that much more interesting. The nightlife, for example, in Havana, has  a lot more money circulating than it used to, lending to a much improved way to spend the after-dark party hours!

This country has a rich heritage that is carefully preserved in the Historic Trinidad and Havana world heritage sites. These have undergone painstaking restoration so that you can take a trip back in time whenever you feel like it!

All in all, Cuba is an amazing place to go. There is a lot of natural beauty in this country, and you will likely find that there is a lot to discover in a place like this!
